Dani: Review Film about Gender Equality

This short film titled Dani directed by Smiely Khurana and produced by Capilano University in December 2017. This film got Best Short Film in Capilano Awards 2018. The film received 547 likes in Smiely Khurana YouTube Channel. This short film also received positive comments (in the comment section) because of how the actor or actresses deliver the act and how the meaning of the film is conveyed.

This movie tells us about a South Asian teenager girl who wants to work in the entertainment industry but has to cope with her parents' sexist remarks. In the conversation the mom said, “are you playing games on the computer” and Dani said, “I am editing my short film”. I immediately understood the struggle in this film.

The main character here is Jasmeen Sekhon as Dani a teenage girl that struggle to be a film maker in film work field. Her acting was so good, it fits to the character that is being potrayed by her. The director isn’t bad to choose her to play her role in the film.

I would say this movie was really good to watch. The film is very easy to understand with characters very immersed in their roles playing the rollers. The effect on this film was very good from scene to scene and the shooting was very clear and stable. However, the ending really hanging that makes me disappointed.
